Loyola University New Orleans College of Law is well known for its longstanding commitment to building practice-ready lawyers. In addition to our litigation clinics, we offer students the opportunities to develop their transactional skills to helps new businesses, engage in environmental policy and legislation, and advocate for local individuals and community groups.
Law Clinic
In the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic, third-year law students are sworn in to practice law and represent real clients under the supervision of experienced clinic faculty in areas including immigration, family, civil litigation, child welfare and domestic violence, criminal defense, criminal appeals, youth defense, and disability justice.
Externships
The College of Law's Externship Program is an experiential course in which students earn academic credits for legal work performed at a court, government agency, or non-profit legal organization under the supervision of an attorney.
Experiential Courses
Loyola also offers a number of courses with an experiential component to help students develop skills in a more traditional classroom setting.
