Bio
Cecelia Trenticosta Kappel is a 2009 graduate of Loyola New Orleans College of Law and has dedicated her career to representing people in prison. She has focused on state capital representation, but also represents clients in capital habeas cases in Louisiana and Mississippi, non-capital cases of all kinds, and civil rights and prison conditions litigation.
Currently, she serves as deputy director of Litigation and Special Projects at the Promise of Justice Initiative, and previously served as director of the Loyola Center for Social Justice and Executive Director of the Capital Appeals Project, a state-funded 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to representing individuals on Louisiana’s Death Row.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Cecelia attended Ben Franklin High School, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, and Tulane University as well as Loyola.
